Root canal treatment (also known as Endodontics) is carried out to treat infection inside the tooth. Infections generally occur due to a variety of reasons including tooth decay, trauma, cracked or broken teeth. Symptoms most often involve tenderness, pain, sensitivity to cold and hot drinks or food and pain upon biting.
At Dentatime root canal treatment involves clearing the infection from the tooth with special files, under magnification. The space inside the root is then cleaned and filled to prevent further infection. Treatment is carried out under local anesthetic and is pain-free, requiring one or two visits to our practice. The only alternative to root canal treatment is tooth extraction. Therapies are carried out by our team using the latest techniques and advanced technology equipment, Depending on root canal system – teeth can have 1 to 4 canal with different shapes, the length of procedures can be 1 to 2 hours. If you need more than one appointment, you will be given a temporary filling to keep the medicine inside the roots and bacteria out of the root canal. Our dentists will also advise you on post-treatment care that needs to be applied over a certain period of time. It is common to place a crown on top of the tooth at the end of the procedure, to provide extra strength
Root canal treatment is a skilled and time-consuming procedure and most courses of treatment will involve 2 or more visits at the Dentatime Clinic.
