Classic Implants

Features of classic dental implants

Classic two-piece implants are artificial titanium roots that are fixed into the spongy (soft) part of the bone. The process of integrating implants into this part of the bone usually takes 3 to 6 months before crowns and bridges can be placed on them for final restoration.

This type of dental implant can be made of either titanium or zirconium and is used to replace missing teeth in the front (visible) area of the upper and lower jaw.

To place the crown, additional parts (elements) are required, which are screwed onto the implant that has already healed into the bone.

This includes elements such as:

An abutment (superstructure), which acts as a base on which the crown is fixed by screwing or cementing.

A healing screw or gingiva former, which shapes the crown around the implant to look like a real tooth root.

A transfer and an analog, which serve to accurately transfer the position of the implant from the patient’s mouth to the dental laboratory.

All these elements work together to provide a stable and aesthetic foundation for the crown, which restores both the function and appearance of the natural tooth.

Placement of classic dental implants

Classic dental implants are placed when replacing one or a group of missing teeth. An important feature of these implants is the need for sufficient bone volume, and in many patients, bone resorption is observed, which requires bone augmentation. This is a surgical procedure in which artificial or natural (from other parts of the patient’s body) bone is added to increase the bone volume required for implant placement. In the upper jaw area near the sinus, it is most often necessary to lift the sinus membrane by adding bone—a sinus lift.

Proper planning of implant treatment is key to achieving implant functionality close to that of healthy natural teeth.

To prevent the patient from being without teeth during the osseointegration process, a temporary structure is placed – if the quality of the bone around the implant allows it.

Metal-ceramic structures are made of high-quality dental ceramics with individual characteristics of the crowns and have high aesthetic qualities. Zirconium crowns or bridges on implants can also be made.

The treatment takes place in 5 steps over a period of 3–6 months

Two-piece implants require a healing period of 3 to 6 months for osseointegration (integration into the spongy part of the bone).

    Step

Surgical intervention – implant placement. This stage also includes the removal (extraction) of existing teeth, if necessary. This is followed by a period of osseointegration (the implant becomes part of the bone) lasting 2–3 months for the lower jaw and 4–6 months for the upper jaw. This treatment period is necessary for successful integration.

    Step

Uncovering the implant and placing a gingiva former – a temporary element that shapes the gum around the implant. This is followed by the placement of an abutment – the “superstructure” that connects the implant to the crown.

    Step

Taking an impression for the manufacture of the crown.

    Step

Articulation test of the crown’s dentine.

    Step

Placing the crown (screw-retained or cement-retained technique).

    What is the price range?

After examination and presentation of orthopantomography (panoramic image), the patient is presented with a treatment plan and offer. The final price of implants is determined individually based on the treatment plan and the specific needs of the patient. Appointments for surgery are made after prior consultation with the clinic’s schedule.
